Chairman Report

We have had another enjoyable year with a good walking programme and weekend away plus social events. Regrettably, Kath and I were not able to be with you for the Bridlington weekend but I am assured it was enjoyable.

This year has seen the passing of two of our members, Margaret Rodgers and Margaret Barnes (a previous member from Penistone). Others have suffered with health problems but I am able to report that June and Phil Smith and Brenda Phillips are now back in harness and Nancy Clark and Chris Travis continue to make progress.

Your committee has, as usual, continued to meet but with a change of venue. We now meet at Cubley Hall which lessens the chore a bit as we now have a drink!!

Your society cannot function without volunteers who put in a lot of time and effort on your behalf. Finding walk leaders is becoming more difficult. We are covered for 2018 but some members are doing more than one walk so for 2019 would anyone like to step forward?

I would like to say a big Thank You to our secretary - Phil Beard, Margaret Davies – Treasurer, Marilyn Kinvig who covers outings and Grass Routes and the difficult job of organising the weekend away, Kath Coupe, who cheerfully extorts money for membership subscriptions, Rachel Steel who prints off and distributes Grass Routes either on line or by hard copy.Should anyone wish to be involved in joining the committee, we have a vacancy and, on a more personal note, I have been saying ‘we need a new Chairman’ - ANY VOLUNTEERS?

Thank you for joining our activities for the past year.

Charles Coupe

Chairman, Penistone & District Society.
