Secretary Report

Recently, whilst looking through society paperwork, I found my list of weekends away. My first one was in 1990 where we spent 2 nights at The Lakeside Hotel, Keswick for the princely sum of £52. For me it was a quick dash home from work, calling en route for fish and chips, then a quick change grabbing my gear and up into Penistone for the coach which left at 6.30 pm. There were A and B walks on the Saturday and shorter A and B walks on Sunday followed by High Tea at the hotel then onto the coach, arriving back in Penistone early Sunday evening. This was the format visiting various destinations until 2000 and to celebrate the Millennium it was decided to have a longer weekend which was 3 nights at The Brecon Castle Hotel, Brecon for £115. We followed the same format, walks on Saturday and Sunday but made days out of the journey there and back. This proved so popular that it became the new format. There were 3 occasions when, for some reason, we reverted back to 2
nights. It was interesting to compare prices.
