LONGER WALKS

Longer walks are provided in the SUMMER months for those members who prefer more challenging distances and terrain. They are usually between 10 - 12 miles.

SATURDAY, 30th JUNE 2018                                             CUTTHROAT BRIDGE


A 10-11 mile walk from Cutthroat Bridge via Derwent Edge, Back Tor and Dovestone Clough. Some climbs throughout, mostly on good tracks, and mostly level walking after lunch.


Start Point: Large lay-by at Cutthroat Bridge on the A57. Turn right at the end of the Strines Road and the lay-by is 500 metres on the left hand side (GR 215 875, Dark Peak Map).

Meet at 9.30 a.m.

Bring a packed lunch.

SATURDAY, 28th JULY 2018                                             HOPE CIRCULAR 

 

A 10 -11 mile walk from Hope taking in Castleton and eventually the whole of the Mam Tor ridge before descending back into Hope. Generally good moorland paths throughout.

Start Point: Meet at the school in Hope. Take the Edale road from Hope (signposted), the school is approx. 200 metres on the left after turning from the main road in Hope. There is plenty of parking on the road next to the school.

Meet at 9.30 a.m.

SATURDAY, 25th AUGUST 2018                                       GLOSSOP

 
A moorland walk with some rough terrain to Yellowslacks and Higher Shelf Stones., distance approx. 9 miles. There is a chance to visit some plane crash sites.

Start Point: Glossop Parish Church, Church Street, Glossop (GR 041 947) or for your Sat Nav, postcode SK13 7SB.  Just past the Parish Church is a public car park, opposite the Wheat Sheaf pub. 

Meet at 9.30 a.m.
